corporate brain training

Posted on January 22, 2008 | Filed Under Sharpen Your Mind

Not surprisingly, brain games are poised to enter the corporate world. More and more businesses are realizing the value of providing brain training exercises to their employees to increase productivity and boost morale (fun & effective, what a great combination).

From an article I just read: “Have you caught the brain training bug yet? It’s getting harder not to. There’s been a flurry of media coverage on the importance of keeping the mind active and a slew of brain exercise products on the market. Not to mention the increasing numbers of pages given over to teasers and puzzles in newspapers and magazines designed to test readers’ brain power.”

brain games can improve spatial ability

Posted on October 12, 2007 | Filed Under Sharpen Your Mind

A recent study released suggests that playing the right sort of mind games can have a noticeable impact on spatial ability - in as few as 10 hours of play. Even better, this improvement lasted for at least 5 months after the initial game session. Apparently, this improvement was particularly striking when it comes to female gamers.

Some mental insurance…

Posted on October 11, 2007 | Filed Under Uncategorized

I came across this article from some news station about an insurance company that now recommends brain exercise for all its policy holders, and offers a program they can use. I realize that mental fitness is a rapidly growing “industry”, and as such it is popping up all over the place, but I had not foreseen this. It makes sense though, certainly is more economical for the insurance companies to provide some mental stimulation then pay for all the doctors, drugs and procedures associated with Alzheimers and dementia.

The folks at Nintendo sure seem to agree with my inkling that there could be a big market for brain games. Since their first two efforts, Brain Age & Big Brain Academy, met with considerable success, they will soon be publishing two new brain-themed games, one for their new Wii and one for their handheld device. It’s good to know that millions of people bought and enjoyed these games!
